Evita and Peronismo

The arrival of the Peronist party in the 1940s meant huge economic and political benefits for the Argentine workers, and the most emblematic political figure that represented this social change was doubtlessly Eva Peron.

Evita’s humble and dark origins, her rapid rise to power and her struggle against the upper classes, turned her into both the most loved and hated figure of modern Argentina. Her early death and the mysterious disappearance of her body turned Evita into the legend we all know today.

This Tour explores Peronism’s greatest landmarks, and Evita’s “stomping grounds”. This is an essential “crash course” and journey to understand Argentine politics, both past and present.

Some of the tour highlights: Plaza de Mayo, Eva Peron's Former Social Foundation, Workers Union of Argentina, Recoleta Cemetery (Mausoleum of Evita), Evita Museum.
